From Ye Olde York to New York

by Al Goodwin on 23-Feb-11

Well it's been a busy time and somehow I've kept my head together, all seemed to happen at once what with the house flood, my bank account skimmed, computer virus and my phone line accessed and used to the sum of £85.

"just that glimmer of hope and reassuring words from someone else"

Indeed I must now focus on the possitives and help is here in the form of industry veteran John Souchack, he's based in New York (a kind of namesake of my home town in Yorkshire) We've agreed terms to have my catalogue exploited in the US. En bref he's working very hard to procure movie and T.V opportunities for the songs, securing radio airplay and we are also discussing with some labels of choice with a regard to a CD release and potential touring.

In a nutshell I can breathe and I'm now free to concentrate on getting another album together.

It's splendid to follow the progress updates with John and I've got good gut feelings about our collaboration, he has the history of working with Island, Polydor and many other labels with some thirty years experience. So I'm honoured that he's putting his savoir faire, faith and those essential contacts into a formulative pot to  get my music heard.

Of course it feels somewhat strange not to be doing the chasing and marketing myself anymore but something had to give or I could have quite easily lost the plot. Delegation as Laurel said in my previous blog is essential now.

I've made the album I'd so desperartely wanted to make, I've got people on board that are routing for me and I feel bloody wonderful and to be honest on the cusp of something special.

Still a long way to go but I so appreciate you reading this and coming along for the ride.

My website has had an upgrade too so do indulge yourself, even if it's just to say hello as it can be a lonely journey as a solo singer songwriter. Looking forward to hearing from you.

As ever, love and music.

Al.
