My new album "Birth, Death And Inbetween" is now being mastered and will be on sale here at my new webstore next week.
I recorded the album in London throughout June and July as and when life allowed, could have quite easily blown the job that I'm doing to support the family and took some financial risks to self fund the recording but I did it and hopefully it will sell.
To say I'm proud of the finished work would be an understatement, It's something I've wanted to do for so long and those of you that have followed my muse for the last few years, seeing me adjust to life without my songwriting partner Andy and become a dad twice over whilst trying to sustain some normality in my home life, it ain't been easy. I thank you.
How Elisabeth (my partner) has coped with what must seem like madness at times I don't know. I have done this for her and my girls, here's hoping the success it deserves will make it all worthwhile. A living from my art and more time spent with my family is the goal, so listen, download and appreciate this piece of work and I'll be making another album soon.
The album seemed to happen quite quickly after stumbling across the right studio and producer via a MySpace contact. Pete Maher is a mastering engineer whose recent works include "The Scissor Sisters" and many major label acts, also he's engineered for "Keane", "Razorlight" and countless other top selling artists. He mastered my home recorded EP and a friendship was forged, also he's become such a fan of my songwriting that he set up the studio sessions at a budget that an independent artist with no label backing could afford and introduced me to Mel Gabbitas who is now my official producer and he has given me a sound and helped me find my voice. Pete is of course now mastering the Mel produced album in his Brighton mastering suite. Not forgetting both of them put down bass guitar on the album. Should be topped and tailed in 3 or 4 days.
I'll put up all the credits of the wonderful people who came in and helped make this album so special with backing vocals, percussion and exquisite mandolin at a later date..
The artwork is done, maybe just a few retouches of text colour (you can see it on the homepage and Facebook) Had great response to it and a lot of thought went into the design but like the recording of the album it's been gut instnict that has made the descisions. The unborn baby in the guitar represents the songs that have needed to come out of that guitar and become this organic piece of music, the themes cover emotions that are from the heart. The title is apt and covers my life thus far and the inbetween will one day be represented by a dash on a gravestone.
As ever it's getting late, thanks for taking time to read this.
All that I can add is sign up to the site and you'll be the first to hear the album then download it and tell your friends and family to do the same.
Love and music, a tired but happy Al. (job done)
